JOB SUMMARY

Argo is looking for a Network Engineer to join their Global Operations Centre (GOC) team, to provide technical direction and oversight of network system projects, problem discovery, and problem management within Argo’s global data centre network.

The GOC Network Engineer is a hands-on subject matter expert, responsible for providing expertise in the design and configuration of Argo’s data centre network systems. They will work closely with the Manager of Network Systems and the GOC Technicians to provide troubleshooting and solutions for network related issues including performance, configuration, and reliability.

This full-time role will require excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills. You will need to relay information in an efficient and comprehensive manner. Our ideal candidate takes initiative under pressure and defaults to action, ensuring processes and protocol are consistently met. Working within a team environment, the successful candidate will also have an appreciation for teamwork, leveraging strengths from all team members to ensure facilities are operating at optimal levels consistently.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and drive short and long term plans and initiatives
  • Provide technical direction and insight for projects, discovery, and problem management
  • Partner with application and business teams to align strategy
  • Participate in regular, frequent project meetings to address challenges and drive milestones
  • Improve the reliability and efficiency of production network and drive best practices
  • Identify, test, and integrate new products, operating systems, and feature sets
  • Participate in 24×7 on-call rotations
  • Daily/weekly follow-up on incident/ project tasks with supplier/ vendor/ Network Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university
  • 5+ years of experience in designing, operating, and building large scale backbone and edge networks
  • Subject-matter expert in core networking principles and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, VPN, IPsec, VRRP, etc.
  • Deep understanding of various infrastructure technologies for server virtualization (VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, Proxmox VE etc.)
  • Large-scale infrastructure provisioning and management (SolarWinds Kiwi CatTools, PRTG Network Monitor, Aruba NetEdit)
  • Extensive experience in deploying and managing Cisco and Aruba switches
  • Familiarity with Aruba & Cisco technologies e.g. VSX, VSF
  • Familiar with SNMP, SMTP, DHCP, NTP etc.
  • Experience in selecting, testing, and deploying networking hardware and software
  • Proficient with various networking vendors such as Aruba, Cisco, HP, Fortinet etc.
  • Experience managing FortiGate & Cisco ASA
  • Experience in a Windows/Linux environment (servers and workstations)
  • Knowledge of networking (design, configuration, optimization)
  • Aruba Certified Switching Associate (ACSA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) and similar professional certifications are considered a plus.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must have proven track record in leading initiatives independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communications skills in French and English
  • Ready and willing to participate in 24x7 on-call rotations
  • Very strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • The ability to roll up your sleeves and help where needed is essential
  • A sense of humor is appreciated
